LOCAL LAS VEGAS RESTAURANT FAVORITE

Las Vegas Restaurant Pick

Sushi Roku

If you love sushi, you must visit Sushi Roku. Located in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Sushi Roku in an award winning restaurant. In fact, Sushi Roku is a recipient of the Las Vegas Life Epicurean Award. Make sure that you ask for a window table, so that you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Las Vegas Strip.

I recommend starting with the Edamame and the Misa Eggplant Dengaku, then move to a combination of rolls and sushi. The Toro is amazing! And don't miss the lobster gyoza potstickers!

My personal favorite drink is the unfiltered Sake. Served in a bamboo carafe, it is the perfect blend of great presentation and delicious libations. For the daring at heart, Sushi Roku offers a Chef's sashimi combination and an assorted sushi combination.

Sushi Roku offers discounts for Las Vegas locals - just ask them about it!

LAS VEGAS SHOW REVIEW: KA by CIRQUE DU SOLEIL

LAS VEGAS SHOW REVIEW

KA by Cirque du Soleil

KA is the beautiful story of twins, separated by forces beyond their control and their struggle to re-unite. From the minute that you walk into the theatre, you are transported to a magical world. Just above the concession stand, two characters play haunting music on an enormous customized harp. The entire show is centered around the rectangular stage. The show begins with a ceremony, which is followed by an dramatic battle between good and evil. The twins are separated, and the stage drops down below view to re-emerge as a desert island, covered in sand! Transitioning to the next act, the stage tilts towards the audience, dumping the sand below the stage. The stage continues to transition with each new act, even rotating vertically to become the sheer face of a mountain.

In my opinion, KA is one of Cirque du Soleil's best shows. It is thrilling, and introduces a whole new set of thrilling acrobatic tricks and stunts - Cirque Du Soleil's signature style.

Show Times
KA is at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Show times are Tuesday through Saturday, 7 pm and 9:30 pm. KA is dark Sundays and Mondays. Ticket prices range from $69 to $150. Child and military specials are available.

Tabu - Wednesday Nights - MGM Grand

At midnight I received a phonecall from a friend, inviting me to join her at Tabu. Never being one to pass up a good party, I joined her and a group of friends who were hanging out at the ultra club at MGM Grand. I'd been to Tabu before - most recently with a bachelorette party - and once again, Tabu did not disappoint!

Tabu has an intimate lounge atmosphere - with several large VIP tables in the center surrounded by about 20 private tables along the perimeter. The layout offers something for everyone - whether you are looking to mingle or have an intimate conversation. Cover charge typically ranges between $10 to $20.

Last night the lounge had a perfect amount of people - crowded but not too crowded. The girl to guy ratio was at least 5 to 1 ... lots of beautiful ladies. The DJ was rolling out plenty of hip grooves - the kind that convince you to dance all night long - which inspired the ladies to dance on the couches, on the coffee tables ... everywhere! And not only were they attractive - but they were nice as well. Christina - who recently returned to Las Vegas after having spent two years in London, England - was at Tabu letting her hair down, preparing for her first year of Dental school. We had a table - which included plenty of fun cocktail waitresses / servers. Not in the mood for hard alcohol, I opted for Newcastle , which was $8.00 per at the bar. Not that bad!

If you end up in Vegas on a Wednesday night, check out Tabu. Even if you are flying solo - you are sure to have a great time, and meet some great people. Stayed tuned and I'll be sure to get you the name of an insider to get you passed the line.
